Job seeker out of work due to mental illness.

Hi, I’m new here.

I’m currently seeking employment after six months off due to debilitating depression. I’m healthy and ready for employment however what excuses can I use in regards to my 6 months off? Concerning the employment background check. Do they check your employment tenure? Education history? or is it just criminal? Is the employment check done through the references you provide?
