Job "makes" me take a break for 15 minutes a day unpaid but removes 30 minutes of pay from paycheque each day. Am I wrong for being upset at this?
The shifts that I work are 5 hours a day (I was desperate at the time) and I'm the only one that I know of that is from an agency.
I have recently been told that the 15-minute breaks that I take counts as a 30-minute reduction in my paycheque (ie. instead of 4 hours 45 min it's 4 hr 30 min).
In the middle of my shift, there is some downtime where I have nothing to do. That is when I take my break.
I've tried asking several supervisors/other workers and even the manager if there was anything I could do other than wait but was told that there was nothing I could do.
Other workers who aren't from an agency seem to be busy all the time so I do not understand why I'm unable to help or do work in this timeframe.
I have tried to stay late to make up for the 30 minutes of unpaid time but usually, there isn't anything left for me to do.
I've been trying to apply for other jobs but I haven't had any luck yet.
Am I wrong for feeling like I'm being hosed or am I just being childish? The agency said they'd guarantee me at least five hours in the interview.
