I'm turning 19 & my father does freelance videography and one of his most frequent clients is a nightclub here. The owner found out I was looking for a job and offered to train me as a bartender or make me a cashier and pay me under the table, and since I desperately need a job I took up his offer.
Thing is, I have no clue what I'm doing and I have no previous experience. I also have extreme anxiety and doing research has both calmed and raised my fears: one part of me knows I'm just being irrational, but another part has heard one too many horror stories. I'm also sensitive to sounds and I'm really worried I'll break down because of all the noise during training and make a fool of myself. Even better is that my phone recently broke and I have a fear of getting stabbed while waiting to go home or something and having no way to contact anyone.
...Kinda sad, I know.
Does anyone have any advice, both general and for this specific job? I know being nervous is okay and it means I care, but I feel I care too much and I'm starting to think maybe this isn't a good idea. But at the same time I feel like it's a good opportunity, even if it doesn't work out. I'm super torn, and I've done tons of research but I'm still super antsy. What can I expect from working at a nightclub, especially as a bartender?
