How to get into the apartment leasing business?

I’ve been trying to get into an apartment leasing consultant position for about six months now but places won’t hire me because I have no previous experience! Recruiters in my area haven’t responded back to me either which sucks because that’s one of the ways that I heard is best to get in. Is there anything I can do to make myself more favorable? How did any of you get in this job field without prior experience? I will also add that I’m a sophomore in college and will be getting my associates (computer science) at the end of this semester. I’ve also held steady jobs (currently at my job for over a year and a half).
