About a month ago, a recruiter (Recruiter A) had reached out to me regarding a role with a relatively sizeable company where the role would be essentially building up the team from the ground up. It sounds absolutely exciting for me as that's what I've been meaning to do for a while. We went back and forth on what they expect to pay salary wise (would be somewhat more than what I make) and about my resume etc. The recruiter mentioned that they would submit my profile to the company and that they'd get back to me in a week. Never happened. I felt like I had been absolutely ghosted by the recruiter.
About a week ago, another recruiter (Recruiter B) from a different corporation reached out to me regarding the very same role. I had mentioned that another recruiter (Recruiter A) had reached out to me with that very same role but they hadn't been in contact with me since then. They assured me that they'd work with me as I had been in their list of contacts from previous roles and that they push relationships over anything else. Oddly enough, I did recall working with them before but it was weird that they were reaching out to me regarding the very role with the same company. Since then Recruiter B has been in constant contact with me.
Today, I got a random call from Recruiter A. The company wants to meet me! I was happy, except wait.. Didn't I submit my information via the other recruiter? Hmmm, something fishy is going on. Seeing as how I hadn't really been in contact with Recruiter A, I kept my mouth shut but agreed to the call for next week. After hanging up, I immediately reached out to Recruiter B. I told them that I just had heard from Recruiter A and mentioned that the company wants to talk to me. Recruiter B told me that they had heard back from the company today and apparently I'm "too expensive" for them. How is it that one recruiter got me in but the other didn't yet both are contracted out by the company?
It's a really weird situation and I'm not sure I have a good feeling about this company.
