I interviewed a candiadate with my Company President for a position that would be working directly with me. My company has been slow to fill the spot, and as a result I have been doing the work of 2 people for the better part of a year.
I learned that the lone candidate declined our offer for the position for an offer at a different company. I want to reach out to the candidate on LinkedIn to see how much my company offered to get a better idea if he got a low-ball offer, of it it simply wasn't a good fit. My justification in this would be to use that # to help someone else in-house get promoted to the open position, at a fair salary, and also to make sure I am not being underpaid of course.
To me I don't see a downside to this, unless the candidate dimed me out to the hiring manager. Thoughts?
