I met this person that works for this big company—he’s big in his position and was kind enough to give me his information. I asked him to let me know if he heard of any openings and he introduced me via email to someone else.
I emailed and was delighted when a sit down was suggested. However, it was then taken back because they would be out of town. So I suggested that I could come in earlier or would wait until the return. No email reply. I wait a week to check in and say I’m available the next week, the reply from her was how about the next day. I said unfortunately I couldn’t but would be available the next week (as I previously mentioned). She said how about a phone call. I prefer in person but I said that’s fine and gave the times I’m available. No reply. So I wait and got an email saying sorry for the delay and asked how about the next day for a phone call. I said sure and gave the time. No email reply and no call the next day. I send another email and get an apology and that it’s a super hectic time and how about a call for the next day. I say no worries and give the time. Didn’t get a reply or call.
I get that it’s extremely busy and technically this is an informal chat since it’s through networking essentially. I was considering just calling myself but I don’t want to come across as too pushy especially since I was told how hectic it is and she’s swamped. Should I email again? Call? I don’t really want to just give up because I would love the opportunity. But I want to show I’m understanding of their time and not to appear too aggressive that it turns her away. Id be more thrown off if I never heard back but I’ll get at least one reply and they are genuine in the responses.
TLDR; not sure whether to continue trying to make contact with person at company. Thoughts?
