Hi there,
I would like opinions in regards to this email I received from the company recruiter.
Some background:
The company is a large bank. The recruiter is an internal recruiter. I interviewed with the hiring manager the week before Christmas. It went really well, I sent a thank you note to him and the recruiter. Christmas and New Years goes by, haven’t heard anything. I called the recruiter on Jan 2nd and she told me to be patient, they haven’t forgotten about me, i was just the very first interview and due to the holidays, they still needed to finish up the process with the remaining candidates.
So this past Thursday 1/10, the recruiter sends me an email update unsolicited.
It reads primary this:
Hi OP
I hope you week is going well. I wanted to touch base to let you know that [hiring manager name] is winding down with the last of his interviews so I should have next steps later in next week. Don’t forget to visit our benefits website at [bank employee benefits website url] so you can see the pension plan, 401k, etc. details.
Mrs. Recruiter
So I need opinions from all your recruiters out there. Would you send an email to a candidate that is structured similarly and unsolicited if they weren’t high on the short list for the position? I feel like that would be a waste of time. Similarity, does it feel like I have a good shot at the gig as the hiring manager and recruiter have probably calibrated over the interviews they have finished, and they liked me the best and unless a new candidate in the remaining scheduled interviews knocks their socks off, the job should be mine? I just don’t understand sending me a link to check out the employee benefits if it wasn’t to get me educated so when they do extend an offer, I should already have some questions answered from visiting the site.
Thoughts? Opinions? Should I allow myself to get cautiously excited?
Thanks Reddit.
