i have been unemployed for a few months now and just landed two different types of jobs and now i have to decide which one to go for. I have banking and sales experience.
First job is for a major bank i would be a teller making 15 an hour plus maybe commission for referrals but those don't come too often. They have great benefits but the job is part time @ 20 hours/wk. They stated i could work more hours but def. no OT and its not guaranteed. This job feels safer as its a big name company and room for growth and into a full time status is quite good.
Second job would be a call center job where i do outbound calls to sell solar panels. This one pays 13/hr and OT is encouraged. I would be making hundreds of calls a day and every time i set an appointment or sale i make commission. This is a full time job. the reviews state that its very hard but i am confident i can do well in this environment and make lots of money. It just feels riskier than the bank job and i doubt there is much room for growth in the company.
Pay wise i would make quite a bit more money at the call center job and this could help me save and rebuild my emergency fund and pay off some debt. the first job would pay the bills with a little bit of money to save every month.
any suggestions? anyone have experience in these jobs and mind sharing?? thanks!
TL:DR; teller position vs sales call center. call center job makes more money but its riskier and requires a ton of hours (OT is standard)
