I have to decide whom my company will hire. It is a very good job. I happen to know all three applicants personally. I will call them Zoey (f30), Mallie (f30) and Terrence (m33). None of them knows that I will be reviewing their application.
The issue is that I unrequitedly love Zoey since more than a year. However she has a boyfriend (m 29). She is a great person but I figured that it is bad for me to spend time with her, as this makes my crush on her even worse. That’s why I try to avoid her.
However I now believe that Zoey is the best applicant for the Job. Mallie is in my opinion the second best. (I don’t think there is a great difference in their abilities.)
I will have to spend time with the successful applicant nearly every workday. And I think it would be emotionally very difficult for me to spend time with Zoey every day. As opposed to that, I wont have any trouble to spend time with Mallie.
However I don’t want to punish Zoey for my feelings for her. She never did anything wrong so it would be unfair to deny her this job.
What should I do?
TL;DR: My crush applied for a job with me. I don’t think I can handle seeing her everyday. But I don’t want to punish her for my feelings for her.
