I got this call center job and it's really just pile-driving my mental health. Just really RKO-ing my happiness these days. I just got out of college and my on-campus job was all I knew for two years. I made friends there and legitimately enjoyed the people I met. We don't see each other nearly as much now, and I feel really alone. It's depressing just sitting there in a classroom learning about the call center material and just waiting for life to end.
So this call center job is the absolute worst thing ever. You just sit there, no phone, no drawing, just learning so that eventually you can answer phone calls for 8 hours and do nothing else. For $11 an hour. No.
So I was thinking, since I live in a college town and I'm just fresh out of college, would being a waiter be a good next step? I'm looking for a job where I can meet people and make decent money, plus i already have experience in customer service. I've heard all kinds of things about it, both good and bad. I've heard people say they keep their old aprons to remind them to never be a server again, but then I hear other people say how much they like it. Is it really that bad/good?
