I feel the need to rant. About a year and a half ago I was recruited to work for a company as a VP. I was tasked with driving the future of software technology in a company with very little software experience (they also sell something else).
The company recruited me very hard and I ended up relocating my family for the job to a small town. For the first 5 or 6 months, my boss (also the President) was on his best behavior. Then, one day in a meeting around February, he drops the "n-word" twice in a conversation in his office. I was like, "did that just happen?" but I ignored it. Then he began to share his opinions on women (he thinks they're dumb). These issues became more and more frequent as time went on. Recently, we had a company dinner at a very, "white" restaurant. His daughter was with us (she's 26 and will be the next President of the company). Anyway, a minority couple walked in and walked about 8 feet away from where the President was sitting. The President made a very loud and very public show of talking off his wrist watch and putting it in his pocket because he was afraid it would get stolen. I thought he was going to get his ass kicked. Then in the same dinner, the President proceeded to tell his daughter that she is getting fat (in front of the whole executive team) and poking at her shoulders to demonstrate how fat she is getting. Anyway, this guy is a lunatic. To complicate matters worse, he doesn't know shit about software and working with him is like when Google tried to explain search engines to congress. Unfortunately, this guy is a millionaire (his daddy made the company and gave it to him). He is on the board at a local health system and is very "public" in the area. He is on his best behavior for the public but in actuality, he is a racist, dumb, misogynist prick. This job is making me sick. I am so fucking pissed that I work with this asshole. Anyway, rant over, I guess. Fucking asshole...
