I'm a 24 year old female. I left school last year, as I was starting to question what I really wanted to do with my life (quarter life crisis is real, yo). For a while now I've been looking for work, nonspecific, to no avail. I'd prefer to be a server of some kind, as I want a job with tips.
So the other day I found an ad for a serving position that didn't specify experience required (I have no serving experience btw, I was the general manager of a pizzeria for a few years, though) and I decided to apply, why not.
I was honest about my experience and qualifications on the application, and to my absolute surprise they called me in for an interview on Monday. Upon looking back at the ad, I realized it's actually a serving/bartending (back n forth sort of thing) position.
So now I'm left wondering not only why they would interview someone with no experience, I'm sure they could find someone who knows what they're doing? I'm feeling not confident, at all, and I'm worried I'm going to go in and look so stupid. I don't see how I have a chance at bartending any sort of bar, tbh I barely even drink, I know nothing.
I was excited to get the interview, but now after thinking about the situation, I want to crawl into a hole. At the same time, it's so hard to get a serving position without experience, I have to give it a shot right?
Any confidence boosters or tips from you all would probably make me feel a lot better. And possibly some insight on why they may have called me in for an interview, when I'm clearly not qualified?
