How to be survivable without requiring good interviewing skills or a good network?

I'll be up front and say I don't shine at job interviews, and at most social situations. But I am great at what I do at the job. Anyone that is open to the idea of "don't hire good interviewers, hire good workers" is gonna get a mutual agreement with me.

The typical interview -> job pipeline is not the best fit for me so I need another way around for getting jobs I want.

On top of that I've been failing to get any decent paying job offers for software development in the jobs market since 2011. I have no savings and usually struggle to make ends meet. And this is all during a good time in the economy. If I can't get a good job during the good times, how should I prepare for and survive during the bad?

Also, don't confuse this with "I want to work jobs in isolation". I am NOT asking for lone wolf jobs. I am generally regarded as a good worker and collaborate well with others.

I am just not good at being collaborative outside of work. While I am fine working with others at work, what I am asking for is how to develop my career in isolation.

I'm pretty bad at following up with peers at work or school after I say goodbye to them. People generally don't hold my interest for the long run. So I'll need to know how to survive without necessarily having decent interviewing skills or having a network around me.
