How do I find a job that pays more than $11 an hour?

I’m currently in my final year of college, and going to be starting an internship during the summer. I’m majoring in web design and graphic design.

My current job only pays $10.60 an hour. I’m a key holder in retail. I work almost everyday of the week, but I’m only given 27 hours a week max. It’s hard because the place is a 45 minute drive one way. So it’s really wearing on my car and gas money.

This is my first real job. My previous jobs were volunteer or carnival jobs. I’ve been at this retail place for a little over 2 years now.

Any suggestions on places I can apply to where I can utilize my retail experience/technology skills? Also, places where I can at least make $12 an hour?

I live in central Virginia.
