Hey Everyone!
So I(f) have been with this company working as an admin for a year and a month now. Since day one of me working there another girl in the office has been just plain rude and mean to me and creating a very hostile environment that makes me not want to be there.
Examples of her actions:
Filthy looks, a lot of looking at me with disgust on her face.
Very snide comments/remarks. Like, she keeps an excel sheet for propane usage, but I pay the bill for it. I’ll put it in her inbox so she can track whatever on her spreadsheet and there’s been a couple times that she’s had it before I do and I don’t know it and she’ll put it back in my box and very rudely say “I’ve already seen this.” Like I’m supposed to read her mind...
She does payroll. Last pay period I very nicely asked for my check and she just did the whole dirty look thing and acted like I was rudely interrupting her when she was just bullshitting with another coworker.
The list goes on, seriously, on.
One thing that does really bothers me so much is that she’s super nicey-nice to pretty much everyone else.
I have gone to the office manager numerous times with the problem, only problem is that the girl doing all this to me does it to the manager too and the manager doesn’t have any backbone to stand up for herself let alone me. She’s not always like that to the manager, but recently we’ve been in the same boat. I’ve also gone to the owner and his in house lawyer and they just sweep it under the rug and pretend like nothing is wrong. There is a LOT wrong. I go home crying at least once a week. I get so frustrated by it that it ruins my day at work. It’s affecting me in a very negative way because I’ve put up with it for so long that I’m emotionally drained and exhausted from it. I’m having a hard time being the bigger person and just keeping the smile on my face anymore.
My family tells me to just ignore it but I can’t when it’s a daily thing. You all are going to tell me to find another job but I’m stuck in a situation where I owe money back to the owner for a loan that he gave me to pay off a surgery that I needed to have done. That is going to take me the next 6 months to pay him back.
Today I decided to start a log of the interactions/situations that occur and I’ve also printed out the anti harassment policy that everyone, including her, has signed and give it a month or so to build up then go to the owner with it. Not sure if that will get me anywhere. Actually I’m almost positive it won’t.
What do you all suggest?
TLDR; Another girl in the office is just plain mean to me, gone on for over a year. Management/owner won’t do anything about it. I can’t quit my job because I owe a loan back to owner for the next 6 mo. What do I do?
