Just had my first performance review (this is my first big corporate job) and was rated as “Below Average” because of my communication skills. I come into work everyday on time, do everything I’m told and ask questions when needed but when it comes to communication, I only talk about work stuff and not personal stuff. I do admit that I’m introverted and kind of shy, but I say hi to people and smile and ask how they’re doing. Other than communication, I was dinged for not completing one of my goals from my 90 day review, which wasn’t too bad but will be fixed. I also found out that a new daily task that I was shown a couple weeks ago was never supposed to been given to me since it’s not my job. I’ve been working at this place for almost eight months and I’m devastated. I was given goals and things to work on and I will work on them but I don’t know if I should be concerned about my current job or if I should start looking for another one. Any help?
