Yesterday I was 'let go' from my job of two years. My job focussed on two areas of marketing - I was an 'A' and 'B' manager. Over the last few months, more and more people have been hired, meaning I had less and less to do - I'd actually started looking for a new job and had an interview lined up for next week. Suddenly, I'm taken into the boss' office and told that he has to 'let me go'. He says I clearly enjoy the 'B' part of my job and he wants to cut back on that area in the business, so with regret he's letting me go. He says he'll give me a reference and he's enjoyed making my acquaintance. He is giving me 2 months' pay to leave, and he suggested it would be easier for me to clear my desk that day and go. My letter from HR says 'termination of employment' and states 'after careful consideration of the needs of the business, your role will be terminated on Dec 7'. I am extremely upset and also confused as to whether I've been fired or made redundant - I'd love some clarity on this if anyone can help!
