Job 1: Pays my bills, Mislabeled Contracting Position, Filed my SS-8 Pending Determination
Job 2: Side Job, Local Small Business, Real Contracting Position (At-Will Contract) (Worked 3 months, made $12- TOTAL)
Job 3: Side Job, Local Small Business, Real Contracting Position (At-Will Contract) (Worked 5 months, made $10 per hour)
On Dec 15th, my team was informed we were being let go at the end of the year. (Jan 1st I return to hand in equipment). So due to the numerous issues with the position I have filled my SS-8 to the IRS for review. (Uniforms, Scheduled Hours, Company Training, Company Tools, Office Setting, ETC). I have also gone ahead and filed for partial unemployment.
During this same time Job 3 came to an end naturally and I am not longer a contractor with the firm.
Now the issue, I am finishing my last day(s) at job 1, and was intending to continue job 2 for the indefinite period (no scheduled end), responsibilities have yet to be completed due to company delay. However, Job 2 got my unemployment claim in the mail (as I have to list all forms of income). I explained to my boss that he simply has to send a response that I am aware I am a contractor and not intending to pull unemployment from him. His response? I think we need to seize communications until I am able to speak with my attorney. Thus further freezing my roles within the firm, and again mind you in 3 months I have worked 1 hour total, with 10 planned for this week- that are now on indefinite freeze.
So within 2 weeks I went from having 3 jobs, to 1- which is on freeze because on an unrelated unemployment claim based on a larger corporation misfiling me as a contractor. Job 2 has also removed my access to the company site, where I report hours but has not terminated my contract at this time (though I am sure he will).
I am applying and reaching out for new employment, but is there anything else I should be doing at this time?
