Long story short my daycare situation for my child fell through. I told my boss and he has given me 4 days to find a new daycare or he is hiring someone else. I have worked in my current position with him for nearly a year.
I think that's kind of unfair. I know he needs someone but I don't have to work again until the new year so I wish he would give me until then. Am I being fired or is this viewed as quitting since I obviously have to be at home and watch my daughter.
I offered compromises like doing more work from home and coming in the afternoon when my husband can watch our child but my boss said that's not good enough.
I feel kinda screwed over. I know he probably feels like that too but it's not like I am doing it on purpose.
Do I have any recourse? Can I get E.I. (I am in Canada)?
The most irritating part to me is he kept implying in the conversation that I am choosing this, so I need to fix it, blah blah blah, like I wanted it or something. I said "I am not choosing this, but someone has to watch my child. I want to keep working." I feel 4 days to find daycare is not enough. Especially in this city where all the daycares I have called have waitlists or are not accepting anymore kids.
Any advice what I can do?
