Where can I branch out from Quality Control (Laboratory) in the Pharmaceutical Industry?

Hi All,

I'm a 23 year old with almost 4 years of Quality Control experience (2 years in internships, 2 years in a cGMP pharmaceutical laboratory) just on the outskirts of the Toronto area. My career goals are to branch out from QC to QA, and from there to Regulatory Affairs. My background is that I graduated just under a year and a half ago with a BSc in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from a Canadian University in Ottawa with honors.

My problem is, I don't see working in QC as a chemist forever making 50k being a viable career path, and I want to know what are some of my realistic options to branch out towards career-wise. Many people have said to go into a Big 4 consulting firm, or finance, but I don't see why they would pick a Biochemistry graduate supposedly who has "numerical skills" over someone who is a straight up finance or accounting major.

I'm looking for advice on where I can take my skills to continue moving up, and more importantly get out of the lab.
