Negotiating my salary is something that I’ve only done for my current job, so apologies if this is a dumb question (I’m 26 and didn’t negotiate any job before this, since I was desperate for anything at the time). I just got told that I’ll be getting a promotion very soon, with a completely new career path. My company said that they will be giving me an additional 2k to my current salary and that they are willing to pay for any additional training that I’ll need to be successful in the role.
When it comes to promotions like this, should I still negotiate the amount they give me? I did some research and I can see people in this field make on average 5-10K more than what I’ll be getting. I assume it’s because Google is showing me salaries of people that have years of experience in the field, while I’m literally starting from the very beginning.
Do I have room to negotiate my salary or should I just accept the 2k promotion?
