I started working at a job 6 months ago that I don’t mind. The hours, pay, and benefits are really good, but I am the direct assistant to the CFO and me and her just have really bad chemistry. I really have been trying but nobody has had my position for more than one year, and I think there is a reason for that. She really is impossible.
Anyways, now during my evaluation my boss kind of told me I should probably start looking, and that this job may not be the perfect fit for me. The truth is, it probably really isn’t the perfect fit for me, but I wouldn’t have minded to ride it out, because I do like a lot of things about the job. To find something with similar pay and benefits may take me some time, and I’m afraid of being rushed out.
She wants us to sit together again in 2 weeks to talk about everything, but it seemed like she really wants me out. She was just throwing things at me, rather than listening. Any tips for me? Is there such thing as mutual separation in form of a severance? When a boss says that, does that mean I should start looking asap? Can I at least ride out the holidays, and maybe even until after March / April? (because then it's been a full year, and I can also travel during that time if I get some space in between jobs)
