Rejected from a job after I was told that I was moving forward. Should I respond to the rejection? Is this normal?
I have completed a phone screen and two in-person interviews. After the last in-person interview (Thursday), I received a call from the recruiter the same day stating that they would like to have me come in an additional time to give a 30 minute presentation.
The recruiter said that the team was raving about me and that this would be the final step in the process. She provided me with some basic details regarding what I should present and said that she would send an email on Monday with a guide for the presentation and to schedule this step.
Over the weekend, I picked a topic and started researching. I started brainstorming and outlining my presentation. Nothing too involved because I had not yet received the guide but I wanted to get a head start and have a foundation.
Tonight (Sunday) I received an email that I was no longer under consideration. What gives? Why tell me that I am moving forward and then send a rejection?
Edit Update: the rejection was sent in error. I just received my instructions for the presentation. Whew.
