So currently I have a Monday - Friday desk job in a Corporate office IT department as a CNC Specialist.
Is my job great, no not really, BUT it does have a good work/life balance. The only drawbacks are that the pay isn’t the best and the is little room for advancement.
Last night my wife’s family, who all work oil field, told me that I could literally triple my income every two weeks as a wireline tech, be home every night, and have rotating weeks on/off.
I’ve jumped at new jobs before for better money, but ultimately disliked what I was doing and regretted my decision.
Right now where I work if I ever need time off I can get it, leave when I need to, spend time with my family, make vacation plans, just about anything and the benefits package we get is nice too. At the same time though the prospect of much better money over a short period of time to pay off the cars, house, and other things much more quickly is nice to.
I’ve always been one to advocate risk assessment when job seeking, getting as much information as I can about something before making a decision, but in this case I’m having a hard time seeing a clear path.
