One way video interview. Deal breaker?

I recently applied for an executive position (IT) and had someone from HR reach out to me within a few days, telling me that they liked my background and asking if I would complete a “one-way video interview.” I wasn’t really sure exactly what that would entail so I figured I would give it a try and see what it was like. It was facilitated through a really crummy service that is geared towards these types of interviews. It was a series of six questions each of which required a brief recorded video response.

I was honestly pretty put off by it. I felt like it was a lazy and a completely non-productive way Of interviewing candidates, especially ones of senior status. It also made me seriously question whether they might try to vet future hires to my staff in the same way. I don’t believe for one second that the ability to spit out canned responses in front of a camera Is a good reflection of any staff that I might I have to hire. I have hired enough people in the past to have a reasonably good opinion in that arena.Nor is it a productive use of my time. This makes me seriously question the values of this company and whether or not they are compatible with my own. I am seriously contemplating sending their HR department a polite email withdrawing my candidacy because I’m not really sure I want to work for a company that uses such lazy methods of vetting key personnel.

Has anyone else experienced that type of interview? What would you do?
