I work for a small company with under 15 employees. When I started this new job at a marketing company my contract stated I was eligible for $2,000 worth of bonus for the year, $500 quarterly.
Q1 passed, no bonus, not even any meeting or word of why nobody got bonuses. Q2 passes, same thing.
Some employees got upset and management restructured the bonuses so they were $100/month and maybe more every quarter. There are no specific goals to meet this bonus. The very generic criteria are spilt 3 ways, and we are eligible to get 1/3, 2/3, or 3/3 of the $100 bonus. The 3 goals are 'team growth', individual growth', and 'company growth'.
I got my first $100 bonus but this month comes around and no bonus. I was told the first bonus achieved was essentially just for the trouble of not receiving a bonus all year, and that to achieve the bonus I needed to go 'above and beyond'. My job does not present many opportunities to go above and beyond. Work gets done well and the company is in a very good spot making very good money.
What are some suggestions on how to achieve these loosely structured and subjective goals?
