Hi,
In my early 20's I worked at any place that would have me and wasn't too fussed or career driven so my wage was around £15,000 per year, I left school with not many qualifications and worked in Stores, Bars and Admin Jobs.
Then by chance I joined a company as a processor in the Finance department and the turn over of staff was so high that we would have new starters literally every week but it was easy so I stuck it out.
Around this time I got quite good on Excel and due to people leaving senior members of staff would request me to do work whilst they back filled etc then before the year was out I was doing Management Accounts & had Senior Management responsibilities so with this my wage increased.
Then I got headhunted around 2 years after for a Finance Manager job at a smaller firm which I took and am comfortable at my wage went to £32,000 which is/was great the jobs not too hard.
A year later I got asked through linked in to go and speak to a competitor at a larger firm about a position and they offered me the job which is £40,000 a few more responsibilities but nothing too major. I start in 3 weeks.
I am just worrying and having self doubt that I'm actually not good enough for these jobs and am getting them through luck & being in a niche market (the legal sector has so many quirky rules they like to recruit from within so my "Value" is higher even though I am not as experienced + less competition)
So my worry is that I am starting to doubt that I am actually good at my job and just getting lucky to the point where I thinking i can't do this new job.. If I look back over the past 3 years my wage has gone from £16,500 to £40,000 and i just don't feel deserving or educated enough to justify it, my friends/family can hardly believe it as I think i was just a write off. I literally feel like a fraud.
Has anyone has any similar experiences and have any advice?
