Is it okay to list second-most recent position on an application when the application only asks for your most recent position?

I'm graduating college this year and applying for a job with a recently elected politician in my state who will be taking office in January. The application asks only for my "current or most recent position" and has no space to enter any other positions I've had, although I do have to upload my resume. My current position is a part-time job at a grocery store near my college campus, but last summer I had an internship with a senator. Is it acceptable to list my internship as most recent position in order to get my application noticed? I feel like if my current position is just working at a grocery store they would be more likely to pass over my application.
