I'm thinking about quitting my job, but I'm scared to.

The past few weeks at my job have been hell. We have locations all over the state, but I'm the only one that has this position. I started out at a lower level, but then eventually things kept getting added on until I was placed over two locations and corporate was asking me to do things specifically for them, and even then I had to tell I wasn't doing anything else until I got a raise. I got my raise and a spiffy new title (brand new, it doesn't even have a job description), but even then it took two months and three tantrums for my raise to even go through, and when I mentioned I needed backpay, I was told that I didn't want to ask about that because I had been getting overtime when I wasn't supposed to since I had switched from hourly to salary. I totalled up my whopping 3.2 hours of overtime for the entire two moth period, printed off my pay stubs to prove it, then slammed it on a desk. My back pay was on my next check. Now, the same thing is happening before, I'm a hybrid role between a corporate and non corporate position. I still do shit that I did in my previous role on top of doing things for a second location while being a compliance person for corporate, and now they want to add a third location since my two have consistently outperformed the others since I've been there. They've been saying that they're going to give me another promotion, but nothing has happened yet. I told them at one point this shit is ridiculous and something needed to happen soon, and they assured me they were going to start getting things in place and hire someone to do the non- corporate stuff I've been doing. It hasn't happened yet, and that was almost two months ago. In the last week, I've seen them completely pull corporate support for one of my locations during an audit because "feistiestmango can handle it." I've seen them completely trash people behind their backs, set people up for failure, and just recently, they completely threw one of my locations under the bus for not following a policy corporate hadn't even sent out yet just to save face with a client. Other employees have mentioned this is what they do: they use people to get themselves comfortable, then when they're not needed anymore, they get rid of them. I'm kind of over it.

Here's what makes me nervous. I've seen job postings for a position at another company in the same field that I'm more than qualified for, and they've asked me before if I'd be interested. The problem is they were able to ask me because my current company tends to partner up with them pretty frequently, so the higher ups of both are pretty friendly towards each other. On top of that, if I put in an application, wouldn't they have to contact the company I work for now? I have a feeling that wouldn't go over very well at all....

I'm I right for wanting to quit? Should I try for the different position? Any and all advice on how to proceed is appreciated.
