How should I proceed?

A little backstory on the situation I'm in.

Back in September I applied for a job at a fast food restaurant as a cook in my local town. I was told to apply by my friend who works there and that he would help push my application through.

I get called in for an interview and all seems to be going well. I get told they're going give me a chance and will have me on as a cook.

I explained to them that I was going out of the state the next week and would be able to start after I get back. They said it wouldn't be an issue and I was told I'd get a call sometime the week I got back to do paperwork.

I get back from my trip and wait a few days with no call back from them. I decided to call them and see what the plan was from there. I was given a day to go in to do the paperwork. Everything's still going okay.

I arrive to do paperwork and am greeted by the manager who informs me that while I was away they filled the cook position and that I had two options.

  1. Wait for there to be an opening and have them call me.

Or

  1. Start as a food runner until something opens up.

I decided to take the latter as I needed the money.

While doing paperwork I'm informed that they'll have to order my uniform and it should be in within a few days and that in that time I should complete all of the front of house online training.

Fast forward to a week later, I've completed my training and no sign of my uniform.

When my uniform finally arrives I go to pick it up and I'm informed that there is now a position available in the kitchen, and that I would need to complete the back of house training.

The following Tuesday I start my first day in the kitchen. My first two days were nothing crazy and probably my best days there. The guy training me was professional and very informative.

My third and fourth, were awful. The guy training me came in late because his girlfriend has been cheating on him. I sympathized for him but also didn't want to get too friendly since I'm there to do a job. He wants nothing to do with me and decides to be upset all night.

About three hours into this shift, I get sent home under the pretense of it being too slow.

The next day my friend who works there gets a text from management that I need to pick up the pace and that since he brought me in, it's his responsibility. I decide not to let it get to me and go in the next day and work extra hard.

The other cook comes in and is still upset and wants nothing to do with me. I decide to show my strengths by doing everything I can. I did everything that shift. Cooked, cleaned, stocked up, while the other cook sat back and played on his phone.

A few hours into the shift the shift lead stepped outside and the cook and the other server decide to leave me in the kitchen alone to play on the servers Nintendo switch.

Once everyone comes back inside I get sent home and another cook comes in to replace me.

When the next schedule posted, I was scheduled for two days of front of house training.

Then, an hour after the schedule posted, they cancel my first shift. I've had the job well over a month and have worked less than twenty hours.

My next shift is today (Thursday) for front of house training.

Is staying even worth my time? Should I put up any of this? Or should I try to find something else.
