Hi! I recently joined a new company (1 month) and I don't feel it's the best fit for me. I came from a fast pace start up and my new company is very corporate and slow. Furthermore, current job is a step down than my previous job title, so I feel that I'm unable to fully utilize my skills/knowledge that I enjoy.
I should note that people at new company are nice, my interview with them was superb and I honestly think at that time that this was the best bet for me. It's not until I joined that I realized the workload and pace was not in tune with what I wanted.
One of the senior manager at my old workplace has his own startup now and would like for me to join him, but he was upfront that he doesn't have a suitable role for me until probably early next year. In the meantime, I'm stuck here.
How can I approach this with my current manager? Should I say something now and let him know that I might not be staying longer than the probation period (6 months)? Or do I look for something else now? If I look for something else, what do I say to during my interview about me wanting to leave my new job?
For context, I live in Malaysia.
