Giving more than a month’s notice?

Hi all,

I have been an intern for about 7 months now and have decided to move on. Mostly because the internship can’t pay my bills and my interests have changed.

It’s a pretty small set up, my boss and I do all the reporting, finances, implementation of programs, and outreach. If I quit, she is going to be screwed. I really appreciate all she has done for me, but I just can’t stay.

I’m thinking of giving a month and a half’s notice so that she has ample time to hire someone new. And i’m thinking of offering to come in during the next reporting period in January to help the new person with the nuances of the system.

Is this too much? Or is this the best way not to burn a bridge.
