Followed up about a job... is this a good sign?

So I had an interview for an internship and I emailed the interviewer a couple days later to thank him for his time, etc.

After that, I hadn’t heard anything back about the job for a few more days (about a week after the interview at this point) so I decided to email to follow up about the job status.

I received a reply from him saying that I should hear back from their internship coordinator in the next day or two. He also mentioned that if I don’t hear from the coordinator in the next couple days, I should let him know.

Given that last part, is this considered a good sign? I find it hard to believe he’d ask me to follow up with him just to tell me I didn’t get the job. Let me know what you think
