I'm a freelance writer, graphic artist, and illustrator, so I spent hours making a resume that would reflect that.
...Only to find out that resumes these days practically have to be submitted as a Word doc in Arial or Times New Roman (the worst fonts), or a fucking .txt file of all things, or else bots can't read them.
On top of that, most of my submissions are getting filtered out because I don't have a degree in English or graphic design because I decided not to rack up $50k in debt for a degree in English or graphic design.
I think I'd rather not continue with online applications, unless it's a major corporation. What alternate methods would you suggest for finding a job? Handing out my business card at networking events? Cold emailing local businesses asking if they're hiring? Does putting on a tie and handing out your resume in person still work at all?
