Hello everyone, I'm a classic 'broke college student' trying to decide if it would be better to just spend my holiday break babysitting or getting a 'real job'. I wanted to apply at the local ice rink as general staff (their website says they are still hiring), but I just found out my school cut our winter break this year! We only get three and a half weeks now, so I have no clue if anyone will actually hire me for such a short amount of time - even if it is seasonal work. I'd prefer not to work on Christmas Eve or Christmas (I know.... beggars can't be choosers) so I was looking for places that are not open those days. My mother has been harassing me telling me I just need to babysit, but that's not reliable and I have to save money for net semester - I can't work because I'll be taking six classes.
Do you guys think I have a shot at getting hired somewhere decent with that short of a time frame? I'll work shitty hours if I have to (even on New Years Eve), but Christmas (and really Christmas Eve too) is supppppper important to me. Also, my previous job in town is not an option anymore, so I can't just go back to it.
