I was hired for a 15 month term for a position that I had minimal experience in. I was working part time as a box office agent when my boss's boss approached me one day and advised me that there is an opening for a full-time position in the near future and that she would really like me to apply for as she saw potential. Well when the posting was up, I applied, went through the interview process and it's been 10 months in this position, and man has it been a rollercoaster. Let me mention, a month and a half after being hired, my new boss (old boss's boss) dropped the news that she had breast cancer and will be taking an extended medical leave, pretty much leaving me, a rookie, her position. She still trained me through emails and phone calls, but there were also times when I would have to reach out via email to other people from other cities as no one else in this company/building new the responsibilities that my boss had.
It is a very high stress and demanding job, but I've learned to enjoy it and I've received nothing but praise from her and my other colleagues about how good a job I've been doing after only 10 months (my boss has 20+ years of experience and is constantly praising me for my great work).
My boss had just advised me that after my term position ends in May, they would like to offer me a permanent position. My question is, would it be okay to ask for a raise with the permanent position considering I now have almost 1.5 years of experience and I've really succeeded in my position, or should I just be happy that they are offering me a full-time position and leave it at that?
