Asking for pay raise without sounding demanding

Hi! My mom is working for nearly a year now at a store. While I am aware that it is a short time, I feel like she's undercompensated for the work she does. See, there are part-time high school students that work there and my mom works there from 9/10-4:30/5 but they both earn the same amout which is the minimum wage. Also, my mom works alone on a day shift in her department.

How do I say, without looking a douche, that I feel it's unfair that the company keeps on hiring new unexperienced people while my mom (who mastered the job and has even trained the night shift worker in her same department), along with some of her fellow workmates, didn't get a pay raise?

EDIT: I know this matter should be between my mom and her boss but since my english isnt our first language and she feels embarrassed for asking a raise, I decided to just write the a pay raise request letter as her so she'd just give it to her boss. Besides, I've read some research how companies prefer letters rather than personally talking as it doesnt catch them off guard
