Asked question in interview I had no real examples to use; how do prelare for these? Is it literally a case of waiting to gain more experience in current role?

I'm a Biological Sciences graduate currently in FE administration in the UK who wants to transition to HE. The jobs pay much better, have more benefits and, most of all, would present more challenges.

I submitted one application for a front desk role in student services and had one interview; already that is a good success rate. The position is very similar to what I do now, just with a higher starting pay and progression chances. I had some really detailed feedback from my interviewer saying which questions I answered well and others I did not answer well. It made me think I was liked but had weaknesses I'd need to iron out before trying again.

The ones I didn't answer well are where I had to think on the spot an example because I literally did not predict the question. It was about influencing an employee on an idea who I did not get along with.

I work in a great team at the moment and literally do not have any disagreement come to mind; hence, my example was weak. How do I prepare better for these types of questions or how do I overcome not having that experience?

On the plus side, I had to do a 5 minute presentation which they said was well thought out. That is what I thought would have been the difficult part.
