Applying for a Creative Director role, but not direct creative experience. Advice for portfolio?

So the thing is I've worked in marketing strategy all my life. However, I really want to transition to Creative. I've done a lot of creative stuff in my life, and I've been involved in overseeing some creative as part of work, but I haven't really worked directly as a "Creative Director".

Now I have an opportunity to apply for a Creative Director role, but I need to submit a portfolio. This is hard since I don't have a lot of professional work to show. Instead I'm relying on a few amateur stuff I've done. Is that a good idea? If so, what should I include? I talk a bit about my personal blog, some personal YouTubing I do. I have a few professional things like web design and some video production for clients, but nothing all that impressive since this has never been my main focus. I could also through in some amateur photography, maybe, but is it worth it?
