I’ve been looking for a job for about 5 months now. I have about 6 years of job experience at several different places, all customer service which is what I’m looking for. I did get fired at one of them (I know everyone says this but it really wasn’t my fault, it was a terrible manager who also lost his job there afterwards), but for the rest I left on good terms (and I have good references for all of these jobs, even the one I was fired from).
I’ve had about 8 interviews. 6 I was very confident about, 2 didn’t go well (the interviewer was hungover for one, the other was a group interview with two men who talked over me every chance they could). Still, I didn’t get any of the jobs.
I have applied to target a bunch of times, but still no interview, despite their “we’re hiring” signs everywhere. Same with several other chains, as well as some restaurants.
I do call a bit after applying, as well as when I don’t hear back after interviews. I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong, I know I nailed a lot of those interviews and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the way I interview. So many places I apply at say they’re hiring but never set up an interview with me and I’m just sick of it, I’m tired of not being able to afford to pay my bills and pay for food and having my partner pay for all of it.
Anyone have any suggestions? I’m a 24 year old woman if that helps.
