Any reason not to negotiate a higher salary after a job offer?

Got a job offer with a salary way higher than expected. I would be happy with the salary offered, but in the interview I was told that was the midpoint and there was a large range. Should I still ask for more? There's no downside to that is there? How much more could you ask for?
