A year out of college and no replies to my applications. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been having trouble hearing anything back from the places I’ve been applying to and it’s really discouraging.

A year ago, I graduated with a bachelors in music recording. I regret going to art school already, and though I’ve volunteered at a couple different places teaching kids art and working sound for synagogue functions, I feel like I don’t have any experience doing anything that will make any money.

I make about 12k a year at a dead end office job, but I don’t really have any relevant office experience because I don’t use a computer at my job and I don’t interact with anyone, co workers or otherwise. I just go through papers and file them in the right places.

I have a twin brother and his weekly pay is equivalent to what I make in three weeks. I feel like a failure when it comes to jobs.

What are the usual problems when someone never hears back from the companies they apply to? I feel like I don’t know what companies are looking for.
