I found what I thought was a good candidate for a technical position. Great resume and phone screened very well through 2 people.
Anyway, we decide to bring this person in for an in person interview. We need to fly them across the country. They ask for a first class ticket, but the weirdness didn't start there. This person called the admin at home over the weekend to explain the situation and also sent PHOTOS as to why they need a first class ticket. Won't fly any other way.
I thought this second bit was over the top.
Anyway, my company flies no one first class. Not even the executives for a 10+ hour flight. With this position, there would be some amount of travel for sure. At this point, I feel that this person would already be a PITA to deal with once hired.
I think there are 2 options, offer for the candidate to book the plane ticket and reimburse them for the flight of an economy seat, or do a remote video conference interview with this person and that's it. Thoughts?
