I enjoy my job but I specifically asked for part-time and I am listed as part-time. However, I’ve been working 40 hour weeks for the last few weeks. I don’t need the money and I have a life I’m trying to keep outside of work. We are stocking the store I work at and trying to get it set up for the grand opening. There is usually very little to do but they insist they need everyone. I was ok with the extra hours but now it’s really dipping into my life and I want to put a stop to it. The only part I feel unsure about telling my manager is why I want less hours. I’m not a student or parent, I just don’t want to commit to 40 hours a week. Is this an acceptable reason or should I come up with something, like I started college classes (which I’m not going to start until next year)?
