For example-for 2 years i recently worked for Verizon Wireless and made an average income of $4000 a month, my highest commission month being over $6000. No degree required. I got a close friend hired and he is a top performer making 9-10k a month.
I hold a current position at a casino and have worked in gaming at other casinos in the past. Table Game Dealers at my work and past workplaces make an extremely high income and leave work with an average of $200 on a slow night and $1000-$2000 on a busy weekend day. No degree required. After seeing the earning potential i enrolled in dealing school for a one time fee of $500. So far it’s been great.
Right next to my dealing college is a bartending college with the same $500 enrollment fee. I was privileged enough to be given a bartending position with no experience and work a couple days a week walking home with over $150 a night at a low key not too busy bar.
My mother has her masters degree and is a social worker of 14 years. While working in the wireless industry i made significantly more than her and the other two jobs beat her income as well.
i’m not saying this to downplay degrees and getting an education. i went to a state college out of high school for 5 years and have over $30k in debt. Over this time I have realized that degrees aren’t a saving grace, and if you don’t have a certain career goal in mind that you are going to school for, it’s important not to forget that college isn’t the only way to ensure a good income if that’s the only thing you are after and open minded to career choices. I now unfortunately wish I shared these careers earlier and didn’t rack up college debt just because i felt like that was the only way to make a good living in life.
education is great, but i know a lot of you out there may not be aware of some careers out there that offer extremely high income and don’t require degrees.
