Applying for a job at a failing business

JC Penney is having a "National Hiring Day" today, and I definitely want to get out of where I work (a supermarket) because it is in a really bad location and the storage is managed pitifully. But I just checked JC Penney's stock ticker and they're in the toilet. All signs, and articles, point to the company going under eventually, which would probably mean they'd be shafting me on hours if I did get hired. Is it even worth applying?
