When interviewers ask “Tell me about Yourself”, this must become a perfectly acceptable answer

Since many interviewers don’t go through the resumes they expect interviewees to summarize about themselves. So, this must be a valid answer to them.

“Since you must’ve gone through my resume’, is there a specific industrial experience or educational background you want me to elaborate?”

This way you’re saving each other’s time and it also tells you how much the company has researched about you.

Now, I get it, most of you are going to say interviewers don’t have time to go through every single resume’ that’s sent to them. But guess what, your time is just as much valuable as theirs. You didn’t just do “One Click - Apply 50 jobs” either. You’ve invested your time to tailor your resume’, research about the company, role, interviewers (sometimes), and lots of consultation from others as well.

Just as interviewers expect interviewees to know about the company and a little bit about the role, so too it must be expected from interviewers to show some interest towards candidates as well.

It’s ok to reject them, but at the end of the day, invested time from both the parties must be acknowledged by both.

Of course I’m not suggesting this must be brought into mainstream and serve as the final response, it depends on the situation and the kind of interaction you’re having. But if you have to answer “Tell me about yourself” in 3 rounds, I think it’s safe to counter question this in the third round or sometimes in the first round depending on the situation.
