I’ve been interviewing at a company for maybe 2 months, went through four interviews that went pretty well, and was told that a final decision would be made 2 weeks ago. When the date came around, I heard nothing, so followed up with the recruiter who told me that the process was taking some time and that they would let me know in one week. That timeline passed, so I followed up with the recruiter via text, who apologized and said that they would let me know December 3rd.
My question is, why would this be happening? I can’t for the life of me understand why they wouldn’t just flat out reject me if they didn’t want to offer me anything, right? My thought process is: 1) they offered the position to someone else, but they haven’t accepted so they want me as a backup 2) they are still doing paperwork/budget and potentially they will offer me
Anyone have any ideas? This is a company that is known for a “people first” environment and has pretty glowing reviews online and from what I’ve heard in the industry, so I don’t think it’s just a toxic place and this is a red flag (but it could be).
Does anyone have any insight?
