Question regarding signing a new work contract and providing eligibility to work?

I've been sent my first work contract, P46, declarations of interest via email.

Would I be correct to fill out the forms and apply an e-signature, then email the forms back. Or do I need to sign the contracts in person?

The reason I ask, is because the email says 'to contact XXXXX@XXX to arrange a time period before my start date to complete the forms and present my right to work documents.'

As opposed to, 'can you please fill out and sign these forms and send them back to XXXXX@XXX before your start date with your right to work documents.

What would your interpretation be? Think I'm overthinking things...

Also, I wouldn't be particularly happy sending a scan of my passport via email.
